Background
Born in Guyana, South America, I moved to Calgary at the age of nine, and it has proudly been home ever since. Growing up and building my life in Calgary has given me a deep connection to the community and the local housing industry.
I pursued my education at SAIT and DeVry, building a strong technical and practical foundation that would support my career in construction. For over 12 years, I operated my own business as a subcontractor specializing in interior finishing carpentry, working with many of Calgary's respected home builders. During this time, I also completed numerous home renovation projects, developing a comprehensive understanding of residential construction from the ground up.
Later transitioned into leadership roles, serving as both an Assistant Site Supervisor and Site Supervisor for several Calgary home builders. In these positions, I oversaw construction projects, coordinated trades, ensured quality control, and maintained high standards of workmanship and safety.
Today, I am applying my extensive hands-on experience, leadership background, and in-depth knowledge of residential construction to the next natural step in my career: home inspections. My goal is to provide clients with thorough, reliable, and professional inspections backed by years of real-world building expertise.
-
Importance of Certification and Training: Home inspectors typically undergo formal training programs and may seek certifications from recognized professional bodies, such as the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) or the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). Certification demonstrates expertise and credibility, ensuring clients that their inspection is thorough and trustworthy.
-
Technology in Home Inspections: Modern home inspection businesses often use technology to enhance the inspection process. Tools like thermal imaging cameras, drones or camera pole for roof inspections, moisture meters, and inspection software allow for more accurate evaluations and quicker report generation. Some inspectors also use mobile apps to streamline scheduling, communication, and reporting.
-
Report Generation: After an inspection, a comprehensive report is typically provided to the client. This report outlines any findings, including issues or areas needing attention, and may include photographs to help clarify specific concerns. Clear communication and transparency in the report are essential, as clients rely on the inspection to make important decisions.
